Petrozavodsk Branch of JSC “AEM-technology” (a member of Atomenergomash, machine engineering division of Rosatom Corporation, and Karelian Regional Branch of the Russian Engineering Union) has started manufacturing reactor coolant pump sets (RCPS) which are to be erected at Power Unit No. 3 of Xudapu NPS under construction (PRC). First spherical blanks have been through the incoming inspection by ultrasonic testing.

Specialists of the Petrozavodskmash Quality Unit together with representatives of the Sunen Nuclear Power Company (CNSP, China) have checked the first two spherical blanks for compliance with the regulations and requirements for nuclear equipment. Thereafter the blanks will be sent for machining.

An RCPS housing is an item of safety class I. At a nuclear power plant, a reactor coolant pump set provides coolant circulation within the primary circuit, and it is operated under a pressure of approximately 160 MPa and a temperature of 300°C. Reactor plant equipment of one power unit comprises four RCPS.

Xudapu NPS is located in Liaoning Province, Northeast China. Power Units Nos. 3&4 are constructed under AES-2006 Project, and they correspond to the up-to-date IAEA safety requirements. The Engineering Division of Rosatom State Corporation is responsible for engineering and construction of the facility.
