ASE Group, a subsidiary of State Atomic Energy Corporation ROSATOM and Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd. signed a general framework agreement on the construction of another two power units at Kudankulam nuclear power plant in Tamil Nadu state of India.

Valery Limarenko, President of ASE Group, and Sri Satish Kumar Sharma, Chairman and Managing Director of the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd. signed the general framework agreement. The document signed at the 18th India-Russia annual summit in Saint-Petersburg stipulates the construction of two Russian-designed power units, specifies the obligations of parties, as well as provides other important conditions of cooperation. The document is a necessary step towards the commencement of the construction of units 5 and 6 at Kudankulam site.

Accroding to Valery Limarenko, all the formalities had been executed in order to finally launch the project of the construction of two new power units of Kudankulam NPP with the use of the Russian technologies.  “I would like to point out with satisfaction that the project has entered the practical implementation stage. We highly appreciate the joint work with the Indian colleagues on construction of Kudankulam NPP”, Limarenko said.
