As part of the cooperation between Rosatom and Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC), a lecture of a Russian professor was organized in Phnom Penh this week.
During the event a 'Nuclear ABC' book, designed by Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation to create awareness about the power of the atomic particle was presented in Khmer language for the first time.
His Excellency Dr. OM Romny, Director General of ITC, welcomed the audience and explained how important he considers the development of human resources for nuclear energy and thanked Rosatom and MEPhI for the opportunity to hold this lecture.
His Excellency Dr.Tin Ponlok, Secretary General of General Secretariat of National Council for Sustainable Development (GSSD) gave a welcome speech emphasizing the role of science and technology, including nuclear, in socio-economic development of countries. He told the audience about Cambodian policy and plans to promote science and technology to support the country’s transition to a higher middle income country by 2030 and to a high income country by 2050 and gave his view to future development of the cooperation between National Council for Sustainable Development and Rosatom in the area of technology and innovations.
Alexander Nakhabov, Head of International Education & Collaboration Department of Obninsk Institute for Nuclear Power Engineering of National Research Nucler University MEPhI, spoke about the green aspect of nuclear energy. According to his words, all nuclear power stations operated worldwide have prevented 56 gigatons of CO2 emissions in 1971 – 2015.
